Our packs have been tested since 1979 and have proven to be comfortable, durable, and innovative in design. Bonny Doon Llama Packs produces the only pack on the market that combines both hard and soft pack technologies, concepts borrowed from the high-tech mountaineering industry.

We offer three types of llama pack systems and an optional aluminum frame:

The Basic: includes the padded saddle, panniers, mohair sternum and belly cinches, chest and butt straps. The panniers measure 12" deep, 18" long, and 7" wide. Pannier pockets are 2" x 6" x 9".  Aluminum Frame: recommended, but sold separately.  Stock colors: Burgundy or Navy Blue. $265.

The Backpacker: includes the same features and pannier size of The Basic plus adds two large matching compression stuff sacks measuring 24" long by 7" in diameter giving the pack one-third more carrying capacity. Aluminum Frame is included.  Stock colors: Burgundy or Navy Blue. $339.95.

The Larrabee: Features a "super" saddle with " of foam padding over the spine for protection. Panniers measure 14" deep, 22" long, and 10" wide, giving this pack 54 % more pannier capacity than the Basic and Backpacker. The pannier pockets are 2" x 7" x 11". Aluminum frame is included with this pack. Representing more than 25 years of llama packing experience, The Larrabee Pack is made for the serious llama packer. Aluminum Frame is included.  Colors vary, request your color upon purchase.  $389.95. 

Our packs are constructed with quality:

• 1,000 Denier Cordura with nylon rigging

• Double 15 strand string cinches

• Heavy duty nylon hardware with 2 inch side release buckles on cinch

• Reinforced stitching at all stress points

• Heavy duty zippers with one inch rain flaps

• Chest and Butt straps quickly and easily adjust on trail

• Frame pockets reinforced both top and bottom

• Plastic window on panniers holds 3 x 5 index card for content identification.

• Panniers and stuff bags are machine washable in cool water.

• Panniers are made with the heaviest water resistant pack material available.

Saddle specifications:

Basic and Backpacker Models: Separate soft saddle is made of inch foam covered by nylon meshing which conforms comfortably to fit all llamas and absorbs perspiration to help keep your llama cool. A half-inch felted wool spine guard keeps the llama's spine protected and not involved in carrying the load.

Larrabee model: The saddle is cushioned by inches of foam on both sides of the rib cage and a bridge over the spine. The best, safest saddle system in the llama packing world.

Pannier specifications:

The Basic model panniers measure 12" x 18" x 7" with front and back end pockets measuring 2" x 6" x 9".  Color: Burgundy or Navy Blue

The Backpacker model has the pannier size of The Basic plus adds two large matching compression stuff sacks measuring 24" long by 7" in diameter giving the pack one-third more carrying capacity than The Basic.  Color: Burgundy or Navy Blue

The Larrabee model, has panniers measuring 14" deep, 22" long, and 10" across plus two large matching compression stuff sacks measuring 24" long by 7" in diameter. Front and back end pockets measure 2" x 7" x 11".  Color: Moss Green

All models: 

• Panniers are made with the heaviest water resistant pack material available.
• Specifically designed to eliminate the pendulum motion which causes other packs to shift on the llama.
• D-rings on top of each saddle bag allow you to use stretch cords and pile on additional gear, easily lift the pack from the llama, and/or string several llamas together.
• LL Bean sells a soft cooler that fits very nicely into the Panniers. Call 1-800-221-4221 and ask for the "Packable Cooler X-large."

Colors: Custom colors can be ordered for a fee of $25/pack.

Frame specifications:

Light-weight aluminum frame provides unparalleled stability and balance, especially beneficial on difficult trails and steep grades.

Aluminum frame is optional, but highly recommended with the purchase of The Basic . The frame provides stability and comfort for loads greater than 40 lbs.

Cost is $60 if purchased alone. $40 if purchased with a pack.

Purchase of the Larrabee Pack and The Backpacker includes the aluminum frame.

Aluminum frame can be contoured to the llama's shape, allowing a more customized and comfortable fit.
